Apple Johnny Cake

Ingredients

• 2 cups corn meal
• 3/8 cup sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
• 1/2 teaspoon soda
• 1 1/2 cups milk
• 2 1/2 cups chopped tart apples

Instructions

1. 1Mix and sift dry ingredients and add milk and apples. Beat well and turn into a well-greased shallow tin.
2. 2Bake in a hot oven for 30 minutes at 400 degrees. If the apples are not very tart, less sugar will be needed.
