Hot Water Gingerbread

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/4 cup shortening
• 1/2 cup boiling water
• 1 cup molasses
• 1 egg
• 1 1/2 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon soda

Instructions

1. Cream sugar and shortening. Add boiling water, molasses, egg, and sifted dry ingredients. Mixture is very thin. Put into a greased pan and bake in a moderate oven in the oven for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
