Corn Bread Or Muffins

Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow meal
- 1 cup sifted wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon shortening (melted)
Instructions
- Sift together dry ingredients, add syrup, milk, and shortening. If sugar is used in place of syrup, add two tablespoons extra milk or water.
- Bake in a shallow pan or in muffin-tins in a hot oven for 30 minutes at 400 degrees. One egg may be added by omitting one teaspoon baking powder.
