Ingredients
- 2 cups stale bread crumbs
- 1 quart scalded milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Soak bread crumbs in milk, add sugar, butter, egg slightly beaten, and salt. Flavor to taste and bake in a moderate oven. Bake in the oven for 1 hour at 325 degrees. Servings, 6.
- Variations in Bread Pudding: Melt two squares of chocolate and add to scalded milk. Caramelize three tablespoons of sugar; dissolve in hot water to make a syrup and add to the scalded milk. Add spice and raisins.
