Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- Pinch salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups bread crumbs (fine)
- 1/2 cup milk or water
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 pound figs (sliced)
Instructions
- Mix shortening, salt, sugar, and nutmeg; beat and stir in the eggs, then the bread crumbs.
- Sift the baking powder and flour together and add the figs.
- Combine the mixtures and turn the batter into a loaf-shaped or round pan with cone, well greased.
- Bake in a moderate oven for 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
