Devil's Food

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup cocoa
• 2 cups brown sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup sour milk
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon soda
• 1/2 cup water

Instructions

1. Mix cocoa and sugar, and cream with shortening.
2. Add sour milk, flour, and salt.
3. Dissolve soda in water and add last.
4. Beat well and bake in layers in a moderate oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.
