Cocoa Hermits

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup shortening
• 2/3 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 cup raisins
• 2 tablespoons hot water
• 2 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/4 cup cocoa
• 4 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

1. 1Cream shortening, add sugar, eggs well beaten, raisins and two tablespoons hot water. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, and add to first mixture. Dissolve cocoa in four tablespoons hot water and add last. Mix well and drop from teaspoon on a greased baking sheet. Place a raisin on top of each. Bake in moderate oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
