Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk or rich sour milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 4 cups flour
- 4 squares chocolate
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
- Cream sugar and shortening. Beat egg yolks and add with milk and sifted salt, soda and flour. Beat well, then add chocolate dissolved in boiling water and cooled. Add flavoring. Bake in a moderate oven in layers or cup cakes for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
